Finding Balance: Maintaining Healthy Habits in a Busy Lifestyle

It’s a common struggle among many of us – balancing the demands of work, school, and personal life with maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It’s easy to fall into the trap of prioritizing productivity over our health, but in the long run, neglecting our well-being can lead to burnout, illness, and a decreased quality of life. In this blog post, we’ll explore some tips and strategies for maintaining healthy habits in a busy and demanding lifestyle.

Prioritize self-care:

It’s essential to make time for self-care activities, such as exercise, mindfulness practices, or hobbies that bring you joy. Consider scheduling these activities into your calendar to ensure that you prioritize them just as you would a work meeting or school assignment. People often forget that YOU should be the biggest priority of YOUR day. Work, school and other people are very important. Of course! But what about you? You need to make time for you before you make time for other things.

Plan ahead:

Planning and preparing healthy meals and snacks ahead of time can save time and money while ensuring that you have healthy options readily available. Consider batch cooking or meal prepping on the weekends to make mealtime during the week less stressful. It also gives you more time to unwind after a long day while! I personally love to take one day a week, usually Sunday, to get me ready for the week. It’s kind of like a “me-time” session. Listening to a podcast or music and cooking. It makes sure that I have healthy meals throughout the week and it gives me time to reset myself on Sunday. Win-win situation if you ask me.

Take breaks:

Taking regular breaks throughout the day can help reduce stress and increase productivity. Consider taking a short walk, practicing deep breathing exercises, or listening to music during breaks to recharge and refocus. A lot of people will say that they don’t have time to take breaks. And I know that time is limited in this life. Now bear with me for a little tough love session. Here we go: you need to stop scrolling on your phone! Take that little 30 minutes of scrolling to go on a walk. It is the best thing you can do for yourself. Not only it gets you moving, but it helps you clear your mind. It also make you take a break from all those social medias and the ” comparing yourself to others” you’re doing. Now I am not above any of you. Trust me I’ve scroll for hours (with a big S) on my phone and compare myself to so many people that I didn’t even know. But cutting off my screen time was the best decision that I’ve made. I finally had time to do way more things during my day, such as taking care of my health.

Find support:

Enlisting the help of friends, family, or a wellness coach can help you stay accountable and motivated towards your health goals. Joining a fitness class or wellness group can also provide a sense of community and support.

Be realistic:

It’s important to set realistic goals and expectations for yourself. Trying to do too much can lead to burnout and feelings of failure. Always remember that a goal is a goal. Big or small, it is still something you’ve accomplished and that you should be proud of. Always start small and gradually work your way up towards bigger goals. At the start of the year, I told myself “One goal a day”. You obviously have to do more than one thing a day. But what is one thing that would make you feel good if you did it? Maybe working out or finishing your report? Doesn’t matter, as long as you feel good about yourself after doing it. It will also help you feel more motivated to do more things.

Find healthy alternatives:

Habits are the way to a healthier lifestyle

Sometimes in our line of work, we can’t be moving around 24/7. And when you are done with work you do not feel like going to the gym for an hour-long workout (guilty as charged). My best advice on that matter, which might sound obvious, but it’s to find healthy alternatives. Try to keep a glass of water next to you at all times instead of drinking sugary drinks. Maybe look up some healthy snacks to bring with you instead of going to the vending machine. Also, I personally don’t have the best metabolism. So I try to incorporate collagen into my routine to help my body be at it’s best capacity. So i decided to try the FurtherFood collagen powder to help me maintain my health when I’m not moving as much. Now mind you, this is not a “drink this and loose 30 pounds” powder. But it is a really great product that helps me boost my metabolism and maintain my health. Also, it tastes kind of amazing. It is definitely my guilty pleasure now. But hey, it’s healthy so it’s a win-win.
